I love working with gemstones, but most Freshie & Zero styles are plain metal. Gemstones can be more difficult to wear, so I tend to gravitate towards designing and crafting with my favorite metals. But! Every once in a while I create something elegant with a precious stone.
I was thinking that since gemstones are more difficult for me to select and match with my wardrobe, they are probably more difficult for you as well.
How to choose gemstone jewelry
1. Choose your metallic finish – Many of the gemstone styles are available in sterling silver, gold filled, and rose gold. But, not all are. Before you fall in love with a particular stone, see what metal finishes are available. I find that the metal finish can be the deciding factor.
2. Choose a precious stone or a semi-precious stone – Select a stone that you will actually wear! Pearls are beautiful, but sometimes I hesitate to wear them. I prefer to go for something with a bit of color. Choose a stone that you know you will use and that you will use often.
3. Choose the style – Would I be more likely to wear a necklace or earrings? The goal is to select a style that you will wear on special occasions and every day.
